डॉ. पी. डी. पाटील पिंपरी-चिंचवड (जि. पुणे) येथे जानेवारी २०१६ मध्ये होणाऱ्या ८९ व्या अखिल भारतीय मराठी साहित्य संमेलनाचे स्वागताध्यक्ष म्हणून पिंपरी (पुणे) येथील डॉ. डी. वाय. पाटील विद्यापीठाचे अध्यक्ष डॉ. पी. डी. पाटील यांची निवड झाली आहे. त्यांचा परिचय... डॉ. डी. वाय. पाटील विद्यापीठ पिंपरी (पुणे) संस्थेचे अध्यक्ष असलेले डॉ. पी. डी. पाटील यांचा जन्म १९५३ साली सांगली जिल्ह्यातील सुसंस्कृत व प्रतिष्ठीत कुटुंबात झाला. डॉ. पाटील यांचे शिक्षण बी. एस्सी., एलएल. बी. आणि पीएच. डी. आहे. एक चांगला शिक्षणसंस्थाप्रमुख म्हणून स्वतःची घडण करण्याचे निश्चित उद्दिष्ट डोळ्यांपुढे ठेवून डॉ. पाटील यांचा ज्ञानक्षेत्रात आजपर्यंतचा प्रवास राहिला आहे. सविस्तर वाचा
पिंपरी - चिंचवड विषयी
उद्यमनगरी ते साहित्यनगरी यंदाचे ८९ वे अखिल भारतीय साहित्य संमेलन आयोजित करण्याचा मान पिंपरी-चिंचवडकरांना मिळाला आहे. ही गोष्ट हेच सिद्ध करते,की सतत यंत्रांचा खडखडाट ऐकू येणार्‍या या उद्यमनगरीच्याआत्म्यामध्ये एक साहित्याचा सुस्वरदेखील अनुस्यूत आहे. ज्या दिवशी संमेलनस्थळ म्हणून निवड झाली तेव्हाच हा स्वर अनाहत नादासारखा आहे, हे सिद्ध झाले. १९८५ मध्ये पिंपरी- चिंचवड नगरपालिकेचे महानगरपालिकेमध्ये रूपांतर झाले तेव्हापासून आजपर्यंतचा या नगरीचा इतिहास विलक्षण आहे.

Four-day Marathi Sahitya Sammelan from January 15

PIMPRI CHINCHWAD: Distribution of books to 1,000 schools in Pune district, poetry recital by 500 poets, interviews of 10 Jnanapeeth awardees and scholarships for drought-affected students will be the highlights of the three-day 89th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan (ABMSS) that will be held in Pimpri from January 15 to 18. Rajan Lakhe, president of Pimpri Chinchwad unit of Maharashtra Sahitya Parishad said, "Around 500 poets will recite their poems during the 24 hour 'Kavi Katta'. PD Patil, swagatadhyaksha of the 89th ABMSS has agreed to publish a collection of poems of the 89 poets, whose poems will also be recited." "The newly elected president of the sammelan will give a talk. Litterateurs Gujral and Javed Akhtar will also be attending the meet," he said. Madhavi Vaidya, executive president of ABMSM said, "The rotational office of the ABMSM was shifted to Pune for three years and this is the last year. The 89th ABMSS will be the last major event organized by the Pune office of ABMSM. This event needs to be a grand success. In the past two years, we have organized the 88th ABMSS at Ghuman in Punjab to popularize Marathi outside Maharashtra. Marathi Vishwa Sammelan had not been held for past three to four years, but we held the sammelan in Andaman recently. We also held the taluka level Marathi Sahitya Sammelan in Saswad."

Shripal Sabnis, proposed presidents of 89th ABMSS said, "It is the first time that a minimum of six and a maximum of eight Jnanpeeth awardees will be attending the sammelan and will be interviewed. Interviews of 10 Jnanpeeth awardees have been taken and will be aired at the sammelan. Scholarships worth around Rs 60 to 70 lakh will be distributed to children of farmers who committed suicide in the state." "I had requested PD Patil, swagatadhyaksha of 89th ABMSS that DY Patil University must organize Marathi sahitya sammelan every year in Pimpri Chinchwad city and he has assured to hold them annually. These will be a treat to the local residents," Sabnis added.

It is a promotional event of the 89th ABMSS to be held in January in Pimpri. I have been elected to this post on December 10, 2014 and have attended 290 programs till now and this is the 291st program which shows that I have not been a showpiece president." PD Patil, swagatadhyaksha of 89th ABMSS said, "We will be releasing the programme schedule of the four day 89th ABMSS in two days. We will be giving a set of 12 books each to 1,000 schools in Pune district. The books will include those written by Sharad Pawar, Sadanand More, Shripal Sabnis and others. Our aim is to encourage the culture of reading. Every year from January 15 to 17, we will be holding a small sahitya sammelan in Pimpri Chinchwad city from 2017 onwards."

Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan (All India Marathi Literary Conference) is an annual conference for literary discussions by Marathi writers. Marathi is the first language of majority of people from Maharashtra state. The first Marathi Sahitya Sammelan was held in Pune in 1878 under the chairmanship of Justice Mahadev Govind Ranade.
