Sarangkheda is a village in Shahada taluka in Nandurbar district of Maharashtra state in India. Sarangkheda village is situated around 15 km South of Shahada on the bank of Tapti River.
Overview[edit]
Sarangkheda village and towns like Shahada, Taloda, Akkalkuwa, and Dhadgaon in the northern area of Sarangkheda were almost cut off from the rest of Maharashtra until 1957. In 1957, a bridge was built which connected villages and towns in the area north of the Tapti river to the rest of Maharashtra.
There is one famous Ganesh Mandal namely "Navyuvak Ganesh Mandal". Every year they celebrate Ganesh Utsav for 5 days from Ganesh Chaturthi, celebrating this festival since 1984.
This Datta Mandir is almost 100 years old and renovated around 40 years ago. It is believed that idol of Datta has been brought from Mahur in Nanded district. [1][2]
Each year on the occasion of Datta Jayanti, an annual fair is held for around two weeks and main attractions of fair is horse bazar or horse trading. The fair attracts thousands of people all over the Maharashtra and outside states in country for many purposes like horse riding, farming etc.[3]
Recently a barrage is built just to the east of the bridge to supply water for irrigation and drinking.[4]
MALEGAON YATRA
Malegaon is situated in Loha Taluka. The village is famous for a very big fair held in honour of Lord Khandoba. This big fair namely “ Malegaon Yatra ” is held in Margashirshvadya 14 (Dec/Jan). Malegaon is situated at a distance of about 57 km from Nanded. The fair is famous for its animal market. At the time of the Fair horses, asses, camels etc. are brought in large numbers. Thousands of people visit the Fair.
