When the King regained consciousness, a divine voice from sky came and said that the King remained safe because he was observing the Ekadashi Vrat. After listening to the story, all the people of the kingdom also started observing this fast to get Lord Vishnu's blessings. Hence, the Amalaka Ekadashi fast became famous.

Tradition says that Lakshmi and Parvati, heading Prabhas, one of the holiest places in Gujarat have decided to come up with another way to worship their spouses.They shed tears of joy on earth and love and tears of those grown tree dhatri or Amla. So they and propitiate Shiva and Vishnu. And since then, this plant is used for offerings in the Vaishnava tradition, and the tradition Shaivas.
Amalaki is widely used during the celebration of Shivaratri. At this time the red and yellow garlands of flowers and fruits of amalaki clothe statues of deities. In Gujarat, this tree is considered especially sacred, especially revered. On the ninth day of the month of Kartika, called Akshaya-Navami, women who wish to conceive a male child, walk around Amalaki, uveshivaya his garlands and offering up a request to the gods. This plant is considered endowed with magical properties and it is usually planted on the south side of the house or temple.
